I rode my motorcycle to Ft. Knox, KY on Airpil 25, 2009 to visit the General George Patton Museum.  I don't pretend to know the first thing about armor but I still enjoyed the visit.  I have an interest in any type of military hardware but this was my first exposure to armor.  I would have loved to crawl around inside some of the tanks but I suspect they would have frowned on that. For armor fans the museum is a great place to visit since they have all kinds of armored vehicles on display both inside and outsude the museum.  The grounds in front of the museum are liberally covered with tanks and other armored vehicles and there are yet more inside.  The museum itself is huge and houses many exhibits dating from World War I through Operation Desert Storm.  There is also, as would be expected, a wing devoted to General George Patton. There is no admission fee to visit the museum so for any military fans in the Ft. Knox area it is a great place to spend a few hours traveling back in time.
